Why You Should Visit

A day of Japanese sound and handcraft at Nishidaiji, two minutes' walk from Shin-Nagata Station. Around midday the main hall hosts Tsugaru shamisen and Japanese dance, while the grounds run hands-on sessions: hemp-cord amulet knotting, blending your own incense sachet, and tsumami-zaiku fabric craft in Kyoto Yuzen silk. Stalls along the approach sell vegetables, chiffon cake, herbal tea and Japanese crafts. Admission and the performance are free. Organised by ZEN BIOTICS under the theme "enjoying music and hands-on making".
