Kobe's hidden pockets—from the neon-lit alleys of Kano-cho to the quiet counters of Nakayamate—are lined with "snack bars": small neighborhood pubs run by a "Mama," the owner who hosts the room like a second living room. Regulars chat over easygoing drinks and karaoke, and the Mama is a beloved local fixture. Cozy and a little mysterious from the outside, but unmistakably local.
For most travelers, these are the hidden doors of Japan — inviting from the outside, but hard to open on your own. That's what I'm here for: to walk you in and introduce you to the Mama.

No guide fee. Most bars charge ¥500–1,500 per glass, plus a cover charge of around ¥1,000–2,000. Budget ¥3,000–5,000 for a full evening.
