Why You Should Visit

A small direct-sales market run by Hyogo Prefecture's Kobe Agriculture and Forestry Promotion Office inside the Shin-Nagata government building. It opens on the fourth Wednesday of most months for just three morning hours — August's date is the 26th. Stalls carry seasonal vegetables and fruit grown within Kobe's city limits, plus jams, sauces and other local preserves, including items carrying the prefecture's certified-food mark. It is an unglamorous setup beside a lobby entrance rather than a tourist market, and a good stop if you want Kobe-grown produce with someone on hand to explain it.
