Why You Should Visit

An autumn Shinto rite at Tsurugimiya Oji Shrine in Kasai, where rice grown in the shrine's sacred paddy is harvested. The rice is Isehikari, from seed specially granted by Ise Jingu, planted at the May rice-planting ceremony. Participation is open to all and anyone can try cutting the rice by hand. The shrine's supporters' association holds the rite to pass the local tradition to the next generation, and visitors from outside the parish are welcome.
