Autumn Special Exhibition: Middle Yayoi Society Through Pottery 2026

Dates & time: September 12, 2026 (Sat) - November 23, 2026 (Mon) 9:30–17:00 (last admission 16:30)
cost: Adults ¥500; university students ¥400; high-school age and under free. Groups of 20+: adults ¥400, university students ¥300. Visitors aged 70+ pay half the adult rate. Disability ID or Mirairo ID holders receive a 75% reduction and one companion enters free.
Venue & access: Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Archaeology About 15 minutes on foot from the south exit of JR Tsuchiyama Station via Deai-no-michi, or about 25 minutes from Sanyo Harimacho Station. Paid parking is available at Onaka Iseki Park and Nozoe Deai Park.

Why You Should Visit

This autumn exhibition uses Middle Yayoi pottery and stone tools to explore communities and exchange across the eastern Seto Inland Sea, from Osaka to Okayama and Kagawa. Comparing regional shapes and patterns reveals how people, objects and ideas moved through ancient Japan. It is an approachable exhibition for history fans and families alike.

Is admission free for school students?

Yes. Visitors of high-school age and younger enter free. University students pay ¥400 and adults ¥500.

Is the museum open on Mondays?

The museum is normally closed Mondays. If Monday is a public holiday, it opens and closes on the following weekday instead.
