Why You Should Visit

Held once a year at the Onaka Iseki site in Harima Town, this festival brings Yayoi-period life back to the reconstructed village. Watch rituals such as the Hikomiko ancient procession and the fire-lighting ceremony, then try hands-on workshops run by museums from Kansai and across Japan. There are 26 food trucks and food booths plus 9 retail stalls, and the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Archaeology is free to enter on the day, so you can easily make a full day of it. A good fit for history fans and families with kids who like to make things.
