Why You Should Visit

For one day, twelve secondhand booksellers from Kobe, Akashi, Osaka and beyond set up inside the arcade of Marugo Ichiba, a market south of Shin-Nagata that still carries its Showa-era look. Four new-book and zine makers join as special guests. The market's own eateries stay open alongside — sobayaki, boiled gyoza, bokkake croquettes, Myanmar curry — so you can browse with a book under one arm and a snack in the other. It runs indoors, rain or shine, and from around 4pm the same market holds Shinsen Nokorimon Ichi, selling the stalls' leftovers at a discount.
