Why You Should Visit

For 52 days from September 18 to November 8, the three municipalities of Kameoka, Nantan and Kyotamba turn into one giant festival of flowers and greenery. Five sites anchor the fair, starting with Kyoto Kameoka Hozugawa Park right by JR Kameoka Station: a main garden by a world-renowned landscape designer, one of western Japan's largest cosmos fields, hot-air balloon rides and bamboo art made from neglected groves. Farm markets and hands-on agriculture round out a day trip just 20 minutes by rapid train from Kyoto Station.
