Venue & access: Okazaki Park, in front of Heian Jingu About a 10-minute walk from Higashiyama Station on the Tozai subway line, or right at the Okazaki-koen Bijutsukan/Heian-jingu-mae city bus stop. Drivers can use the paid Okazaki Park car park.

Why You Should Visit

A marche and flea market in Okazaki Park, right by the towering torii gate of Heian Jingu. Handmade work and workshops, antiques and second-hand goods, flowers and clothing fill the park alongside food tents and kitchen cars. It sits in the middle of the Okazaki museum-and-zoo district, so it slots neatly into a day of shrine visits and galleries. Open 9:00 to 17:00, with shade to browse under.

Is there an admission fee?

It is held in a public park and is free to enter, with no booking required. You only pay for what you eat or buy.

When is the next one?

At Heian Jingu the scheduled dates are 6 and 7 October 2026, 4 November, and 8 and 24 January 2027. The Higashi Hongan-ji site runs on its own separate schedule.

Is it manageable with children?

Booths are laid out across flat parkland, so strollers are fine. There are kitchen cars and food tents, and the neighbouring Kyoto City Zoo and art museums make it easy to fill half a day.
