Venue & access: Kikyo no Sato (Kameoka) By car, about 15 min from Kameoka IC on the Kyoto-Jukan Expressway (free parking, 50 spaces). By public transport, take Keihan Kyoto Kotsu bus route 40 from JR Kameoka Station (Sagano Line) to Inokura, then walk 5 min (about 30 min from the station).

Why You Should Visit

Kikyo no Sato, a bellflower garden in Kameoka's Miyamae area, turns into an illuminated night garden each winter. A 5-metre Christmas tree lights up the entrance, a 100-metre path is lined with painted lanterns, and a garden of light shaped like bellflowers glows at the far end, with each zone styled differently. The collaboration illumination with Heian Jogakuin is in its fourth year, there is an angel-wings photo spot, and pets are welcome. A good choice if you want a quieter winter evening a short trip out from central Kyoto.

Yes. There is free parking for 50 cars, about 15 minutes from Kameoka IC on the Kyoto-Jukan Expressway.
