Why You Should Visit
A community-run summer festival, now in its 21st year, set along the Akashi River in Oshibedani, Nishi-ku. Around Sumiyoshi Shrine you can enjoy river play such as fish-catching by hand (for elementary-age children and younger), raft rides, and a class on riverbank creatures. Craft activities like bamboo-dragonfly and name-plate making, food stalls and kitchen cars, a brass-band fanfare, and a rice-cake toss round out the day. A family-friendly outing to enjoy summer nature and local energy by a neighborhood river.
