Why You Should Visit

Sorakuen, the Japanese garden in Kobe's Yamate district, runs its autumn program as the leaves turn. The autumn leaves are at their best from late November to early December, coloring the stroll garden around the pond. On set days there is a tea ceremony in the Kanshin-tei teahouse, a handmade crafts market on the lawn, an autumn-evening concert in front of the former Kodera family stable, and seasonal wagashi sweets for sale. Admission is ¥300 for adults, and the garden is about a 5-minute walk from Kenchomae Station, an easy half-day trip from Sannomiya.
