Hyogo Prefectural Guest House

A Renaissance-style guest house five minutes north of Motomachi Station, built in 1902 as the fourth Hyogo Prefectural Office. It is normally closed to the public, but on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month you can walk in for free with no booking. Highlights include a guest room panelled in solid zelkova, a Ryohei Koiso tapestry, and the entrance and staircase used in films such as My Happy Marriage and HERO. The garden is open daily except over New Year.
