Why You Should Visit
A neighborhood clean-up walk starting from the D51 steam locomotive preserved in front of JR Kobe Station and looping around Harbor Road while picking up litter. No registration is needed and it is free; trash bags and work gloves are provided. Children who collect keywords at two checkpoints on the route get a small gift, and after the walk you can step inside the fence and help polish the D51. From around 11:00 there are photo opportunities with Kamomen, Chuo Ward's mascot. Aimed at people who live or work around Kobe Station, and easy to join with kids.

Keyword hunt
- Children who collect both keywords (A and B) get a gift (a set of limited D51 roof-tile crackers and a Kobe Tartan mini handkerchief, first 50 sets)
D51 polishing
- Step inside the fence and polish the locomotive; vinyl gloves are provided
- Oil stains do not wash out, so wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty
- The D51 preservation group polishes the engine monthly with volunteers and is always looking for supporters
Aioibashi
- Japan's first wooden railway overpass, built to reconnect the Saigoku Kaido road after the railway opened in 1874; removed when the tracks were elevated in 1931
