Price & booking: Street concerts, sing-along sessions, pop-up concerts and Marutaya 2F gallery are free (food/drink at pop-ups is paid). Hall concerts ¥1,000–3,500 No booking for street concerts. Tickets for paid hall concerts are sold at Marutaya (1-bangai). Sing-along sessions: participation tickets handed out from 12:00 on the day at Kobe Machizukuri Kaikan 2F (first 60 per session); the preschool parent-and-child session requires advance booking (first 25 pairs, 078-262-6676, weekdays 9:00–17:00).
Venue & access: Kobe Motomachi Shopping Street (1-bangai to 6-chome) and nearby halls Right outside Motomachi Station (JR / Hanshin). The arcade stretches about 1.2 km west from the station.

Why You Should Visit

Running since 1998 under the motto "the town is the stage," this classical-leaning music week fills Motomachi Shopping Street with sound. On the first and last days, five stages inside the arcade host free 30-minute street concerts from midday to early evening — gospel choirs, classical guitar, jazz, Okinawan folk and more. In between, there are free sing-along sessions at Kobe Machizukuri Kaikan, pop-up concerts in cafés and boutiques, and hall concerts (some ticketed) at Classic Salon Amadeus, Marutaya, BASS ON TOP and Estación de Kobe. You can simply wander in while shopping.
