Why You Should Visit

A free waterfront event held every Marine Day at Naka Pier in the Port of Kobe. Patrol and inspection boats operated by public agencies—vessels you normally can't board—open their decks to the public for onboard tours. Participating organizations run PR and hands-on corners where you can learn how the sea and ships work. Easy to drop into on a family stroll along the waterfront, it's a fun summer outing for children. A Kobe summer tradition running since 1990.

Admission is free and no reservation is needed. For onboard tours, arrive before reception closes (11:30 morning / 15:00 afternoon).

Is it good for families with children?

With onboard tours of boats you can't normally board and hands-on corners, it's well suited to families. It's an outdoor summer event, so come prepared for the heat.

What happens if it rains?

As an outdoor event, boats and program may change or be cancelled in bad weather. Check announcements from the organizer, Kobe Tourism Bureau, for the latest status.
