Dates & time: September 12, 2026 (Sat) - December 6, 2026 (Sun) Gardens 10:00–17:00 (Sat, Sun and holidays until 20:30 with garden areas closing at 17:00) / Ropeway up 9:30–16:45 (20:15 on Sat, Sun, holidays). Autumn timetable Sep 4–Nov 6; Christmas-season hours apply from Nov 7
Price & booking: Entry requires a round-trip ropeway ticket with admission: ¥2,500 adults, ¥1,250 elementary and junior high, preschoolers free. One-way ¥1,900 / ¥950. After 17:00 on Sat, Sun and holidays a night fare applies: ¥2,000 adults / ¥1,200 children (round trip only). Extras: treasure hunt ¥300, wreath kit ¥1,000 No booking to enter (web tickets shorten the queue). The garden picnic is limited to 10 groups a day and must be booked by phone (078-271-1160) by 15:00 two days before.
Venue & access: Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens & Ropeway About a 3-minute walk from Shin-Kobe subway station to the ropeway base station, then about 10 minutes up to the Herb Gardens summit station. Web tickets are handled on the 4F ticket floor of the base station.

Why You Should Visit

Autumn at Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens, 400 m above the city. Until 31 Oct the park goes Halloween: pumpkins, dried flowers and harvest displays fill the Fragrant Garden, the Glass House and the garden shed and cottage of the Four Seasons Garden. On the observation plaza the daily "German Fest" pours German beer and wine, and there is a treasure hunt for children (¥300), a bookable hands-free garden picnic, and wreath kits made from flowers dried on site. On weekends and holidays until 3 Nov the "Forest of Illuminations" lights up after sunset alongside the Kobe night view. Reached by ropeway from Shin-Kobe Station; a good autumn photo spot.

FAQ

How long are the Halloween displays up?

The Halloween Fair runs until Saturday 31 October; from 7 November the park switches to Christmas Market decorations.

Can I visit in the evening?

Under the autumn timetable (4 Sep – 6 Nov), night opening is on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only: the gardens stay open until 20:30 and the last ropeway down is 21:00. After 17:00 only the observation area is open, not the garden areas. On weekdays the park closes at 17:00.

When is the Forest of Illuminations lit?

On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays until Tuesday 3 November, from sunset. It cannot be seen on weekdays because the park closes at 17:00.

Is it good for children?

Yes. The treasure hunt (¥300 with a stamp rally) runs 12 Sep – 23 Nov, play equipment is lent free on the Kaze-no-Oka lawn, and preschoolers enter free.

Can non-drinkers and children enjoy the German Fest?

Yes. There is alcohol-free Kinderwein made from wine grapes (grape juice, ¥450) and Perrier, plus food such as sausages and takoyaki.
