Itayado Summer Festival 2026

Why You Should Visit

A neighborhood summer festival held around a towering yagura on the grounds of Itayado Elementary School in Suma. Gates open at 2pm with a talent contest, followed by stage performances from local high school and university dance and taiko clubs. From early evening the crowd circles the tower for bon-odori, joined by Kobe's own Nakata Kobe Culture Samba Team, before the night peaks with "Bon Disco" at 7pm and "Bon Jovi-style" singing at 8pm. Food trucks and local stalls line the grounds — an easy, relaxed evening for families.

What happens if it rains?

It is postponed to Sunday, July 26 if it rains. Check the organizer YAGURA no Kai's website or social media for the day-of decision.

Is it good for families with children?

Yes. There are kids' cheer and high school dance performances, a COR's play area, and anyone can join the bon-odori circle. Since it runs into the evening, take care on the way home after dark.

Do I need a reservation?

No reservation is needed. Just come to the venue during the event hours.
