Why You Should Visit

Once a year, Kobe's Municipal Transportation Bureau opens up its Myodani subway depot to the public. Inside the normally off-limits yard you can get up close to subway cars and city buses on display, and pick up official transit merchandise. Hands-on programs include trying out track maintenance work and stepping inside maintenance vehicles — a rare look at the behind-the-scenes side of the network. An exhibition also looks back on the history of the Kobe subway ahead of its 50th anniversary in March 2027. Free with no registration, it suits families with kids who love trains and buses.
