Why You Should Visit

An open-air show where you can see, touch and drive the latest electrified cars, now in its sixth year. It is run by Geibunsha, publisher of the car magazine Le Volant, together with the City of Kobe. A pop-up venue in the old foreign settlement gathers EVs, plug-in hybrids and fuel-cell cars from Japanese and overseas makers, including the Alpine A290 and Renault 5 just launched in Japan and a prototype of the yet-to-be-announced Lexus TZ. You can take a test drive around the Kobe bay area with an instructor in the passenger seat, hear electronic instruments powered by a car through V2L, stop at the café, and listen to motor journalist Masamichi Ishii talk through the cars on display. Admission is free — a handy way to compare the newest EVs side by side.
