Why You Should Visit
Every year around Japan's Railway Day, Kobe New Transit opens its Port Liner depot on Port Island to the public. The 2026 edition celebrates 20 years since the extension line to Kobe Airport opened in February 2006, the same month the airport itself opened. You can ride a train through the car-wash machine, pose for photos in staff uniforms, see the retired 8000 series up close and browse railway merchandise. A true-or-false quiz runs jointly with the Sky Day event at Kobe Airport the same day. Admission is free, making it an easy pick for families with train-loving kids.
