Why You Should Visit
An autumn festival at Aina Satoyama Park, where thatched farmhouses and terraced rice paddies still stand. Over five weekend and holiday days in October, the park runs a changing line-up of countryside activities. The highlight is rice harvesting on Oct 11 and 12, followed by picking seasonal vegetables. There is also crayfish fishing, bamboo crafts, charcoal making, threshing and rides on a miniature steam train, so kids get plenty of hands-on time. Food stalls with game dishes, roasted sweet potatoes and more rotate by day. Park admission is free on Oct 4 and Oct 11.
