Price & booking: Free to take part (zenzai charged per shop) Stamp-rally leaflets are available at participating shops, Tamba City Hall and tourist information offices. Entries close February 28, 2027. The card can also be downloaded from the official site.
Venue & access: Participating shops across Tamba City (restaurants, confectioners, roadside stations) Start from JR Kaibara Station on the Fukuchiyama Line. The shops are spread widely across the city, so a car is the practical option; use the Kasuga IC on the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway or the Hikami IC on the Kita-Kinki Toyooka Road.

Why You Should Visit

A winter fair in Tamba City, birthplace of Tamba Dainagon azuki beans, where local shops each serve their own zenzai (sweet red-bean soup). It opens on November 1, Tamba Dainagon Azuki Day, and runs to February 18. The large beans hold their shape when simmered and are prized as 'the treasure of Tamba'; every shop differs in mochi, roasting and sweetness, so tasting your way round is the point. A stamp rally across the shops offers gift vouchers, with an Instagram photo contest alongside.

Prices run from ¥350 at the JA Tamba Hikami farm stand to ¥1,320 for Nakashima Taishodo’s chestnut zenzai and ¥1,650 for the fermented-anko zenzai at Nishiyama Shuzojo Kozue

There is no single venue. Zenzai is served at each participating shop across Tamba City; there are 33 participating shops.

How much does the zenzai cost?

It varies by shop, from ¥350 to ¥1,650; most are ¥700–1,000.

How many stamps do I need to enter?

Three or more stamps enter Prize B, six enter Prize A. Prize A entries are automatically included in the Prize B draw.
