Why You Should Visit

Sumiyoshi Taisha welcomes the harvest moon with an autumn shrine ceremony. As the moon rises over the arched Sorihashi Bridge, waka and haiku are recited, followed by court dance and children's Sumiyoshi Odori at the First Main Sanctuary. The vermilion bridge, moonlight and traditional performing arts create a distinctly Sumiyoshi evening.
