Why You Should Visit

In autumn 2026, when the 160th anniversary of Japan–Italy diplomatic relations coincides with the 45th anniversary of the Osaka–Milan sister-city tie, the south face of the Osaka Castle keep becomes a screen for eleven nights, 15–25 October. The roughly six-minute piece traces the story in light, imagery and music — from the 16th century, when the castle was built and the two countries first met, through 160 years of exchange since the 1866 treaty, to the future beyond Expo 2025. It is directed and produced by NAKED, known for 'NAKED meets Nijo-jo Castle'. Screened several times between 19:00 and 22:00; free, no booking. You watch from the Honmaru plaza south of the keep.
