Why You Should Visit

The first large-scale showing in Japan of Ming-dynasty calligraphy from the He Chuangshi Foundation for Calligraphic Art in Taipei. The 82 works span the mid-Ming to the early Qing, including Wen Zhengming, Dong Qichang, Wang Duo, Zhang Ruitu and Fu Shan, and 72 of them have never been shown in Japan before. These are the brushstrokes that shaped Edo-period Japanese calligraphy and are still used as models today. No exhibit rotation, no reservation needed, and a mutual discount with the Abeno Harukas Art Museum makes it easy to pair with another show in Tennoji.
