Why You Should Visit

The first Japanese retrospective since the death of Andrew Wyeth (1917–2009), the painter known for depicting everyday American life. About 100 works gathered from Japan and abroad, including 15 shown in Japan for the first time, trace his realist paintings of the landscapes and people around his homes in Pennsylvania and Maine. The exhibition is framed around the idea of "boundaries", using the windows and doors that recur in his work. Some works rotate between the first and second halves of the run.

cost: Same-day: adults 2,200 yen / high school and university students 1,800 yen / elementary and junior high students 500 yen. Advance: adults 2,000 yen / students 1,600 yen / children 300 yen; advance pair ticket (two adults) 3,600 yen. Holders of a disability certificate and one companion pay half the same-day price at the museum counter

access: From Kintetsu Osaka-Abenobashi Station or Tennoji Station (JR / Osaka Metro), take the shuttle elevator on B1 up to the 16th floor (about 3 min from each station). The museum has no parking, so use public transport
TICKETS / REGISTRATION: No timed reservation is needed. Advance tickets are on sale until Oct 2 (Fri) as online tickets on asoview! (a QR code is sent to your phone; scan it at the entrance gate; asoview registration required), at the museum shop, Kintetsu station offices and ticket agencies (e-tix, Lawson Ticket, Ticket Pia, e+, Seven Ticket and others). Same-day tickets are sold at the museum counter during the run.

FAQ

Do I need a reservation?

There are no timed slots; you can enter without a reservation. Advance tickets, sold until Oct 2, are 200 yen cheaper than same-day tickets.

When is the museum closed?

The only closed day during the run is Oct 5 (Mon). Hours are until 20:00 Tue–Fri and until 18:00 on Mon, Sat, Sun and holidays, with last entry 30 minutes before closing.

Do the works change between the two halves?

Yes, some works rotate. The first half runs Oct 3–Nov 3 and the second half Nov 4–Dec 6; the list of affected works is in the catalogue on the museum website.
