Price & booking: Adults 510 yen / high school & university students 310 yen (student ID required) / elementary & junior high 100 yen. Free for preschoolers, Sakai residents aged 65+ (with official ID) and disability certificate holders with one carer. Groups of 20+: 410 / 250 / 80 yen No reservation needed. Buy tickets at the front desk during opening hours. Groups of 20 or more and partner discounts should be arranged by phone with the museum in advance.
Venue & access: Sakai Alphonse Mucha Museum (Sakai City Cultural Hall), Bellemage Sakai Bldg. 2, 2F–4F About 3 minutes on foot from JR Sakaishi Station (Hanwa Line); the museum is inside Building 2 of the Bellemage Sakai twin towers in front of the station. From the Nankai Koya Line, change to the JR Hanwa Line at Mikunigaoka. By car, use the paid Bellemage Sakai underground car park (no parking validation).

Why You Should Visit

This exhibition at the Sakai Alphonse Mucha Museum goes well beyond the Art Nouveau master's famous posters, bringing together his oil paintings, murals, sculpture, jewelry and interior decoration in one show. The galleries are staged as a pavilion of the 1900 Paris Exposition, with works ranging from monumental canvases to tiny postcards. It is a reworked version of the 2021 Mucha Art Expo, back after five years with new hands-on corners: a curation station where visitors build their own miniature Mucha show, and Mu-CUBE, a 3D puzzle of his pictures. Three minutes from JR Sakaishi Station and 510 yen for adults, it runs nearly four months and suits rainy days and families.

Do I need to book?

No. Just come during opening hours and buy a ticket at the desk. Last entry is 16:30.

Is it good for children?

Yes. Preschoolers enter free and elementary/junior high students pay 100 yen. Kids can play curator at the curation station, solve the Mu-CUBE 3D puzzle and do the stamp rally.

When is the museum closed?

Mondays as a rule. The museum stays open on the holiday Mondays of Aug 10, Sep 21, Oct 12, Nov 2 and Nov 23, and closes instead on Oct 13, Nov 4 and Nov 24.
