Why You Should Visit

An autumn rose festa in the rose garden of Hamadera Park, a prefectural park spanning Sakai's Nishi Ward and Takaishi. Entry to the garden is free; from Oct 31 the Rose Garden Guide Club runs free guided tours, and on weekends and holidays a pop-up shop in the "Machi no Kei" area sells potted roses, seedlings, fertiliser and supplies. Weekend workshops cover mini wreaths, wooden name plates and pine-cone mini trees, and there are ¥500 rose-growing seminars too. A good fit if you want to see autumn roses at your own pace for free, or grow roses at home.
