Why You Should Visit

Shitennoji Wasso is an autumn festival that recreates the international exchange between ancient Japan and East Asia. It takes place at the Naniwa Palace Site, where Japan's capital stood in the 7th and 8th centuries, with historical dramas performed in ancient costume, cultural exchange shows on stage, food stalls and a play corner for kids. The 2026 theme is "Bounce into the future: a circle of exchange", and the line-up includes Ise Daikagura lion dancers, an Awa Odori dance group and a K-POP live set. Entry is free and the site is a two-minute walk from Tanimachi 4-chome Station, so it pairs easily with a stroll around Osaka Castle Park.
