Why You Should Visit

An annual harbor festival held since Maizuru West Port's registration as a "Minato Oasis," spread between the Umitobira terminal and Onobe Green Space. The grounds host a free dog run, mini shinkansen rides, a harbor marche of food trucks and Hokkaido specialties, and guided sightseeing cruises around the west port. The Japan Coast Guard's Blue Festa runs the same day, with patrol-vessel trial cruises and displays of working ships and vehicles — a full day of sea and harbor fun.

About 5 min by taxi or a 30-min walk from Nishi-Maizuru Station (JR / Kyoto Tango Railway), or a 10-min walk from the Nishimachi bus stop (Kyoto Kotsu bus).

REGISTRATION

No reservation needed to attend. Only the patrol-vessel trial cruise at the concurrent Blue Festa 2026 requires advance application (lottery if oversubscribed).

FAQ

Does it run in the rain?

Yes, it's held rain or shine. Both the Bayside Festa and Blue Festa run 9:30–15:00.

How do I ride the sightseeing cruise?

It's a guided 30-minute course with the first 50 passengers per sailing; reception opens at 9:00. Fares are ¥800 for adults and ¥400 for children, so sign up early to secure a spot.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes — the venue has a free dog run, and large dogs are welcome too.

Can I join the patrol-vessel cruise on the day?

No — the trial cruise requires advance application, with a lottery if oversubscribed. Check the 8th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters' announcements for how to apply. The ship and vehicle displays can be viewed without applying.
