Why You Should Visit

A monthly Saturday market at Umekoji Potel Kyoto, held with JR's Kyoto station management to mark 150 years since Kyoto Station opened. It runs six times between October 2026 and March 2027. Stalls sell train-themed handmade goods created by station staff together with local designers, and there are family-friendly workshops such as painting a wooden keychain or making a can badge. You can also touch a real driver's cab from the Thunderbird limited express and watch N-gauge model trains run. Entry is free, and it pairs well with a visit to the Kyoto Railway Museum nearby.

Is the Thunderbird cab experience held every time?

It is held on five of the six dates. There is no cab experience on the final date, March 27, 2027.
