Why You Should Visit

A three-day handmade market on the Great Lawn of the Kyoto Botanical Garden. Themed as a handmade market for families among flowers and greenery, it offers handmade goods along with workshops for parents and children and small music performances. This is the 21st edition, held October 10–12 from 9:00 to 16:00. Entry requires the garden admission fee (free for junior high school students and younger).

Right by Exit 3 of Kitayama Station (Karasuma subway line), or about a 10-minute walk east from Kitaoji Station. By car, use the garden car park (150 spaces, 300 yen per hour, max 1,200 yen).

Do I need to pay garden admission just to visit the market?

Yes. The market is on the Main Lawn inside the garden, so garden admission applies (adults ¥500, high school students and 65+ ¥250). Junior high age and under enter free.

Are the hours the same on all three days?

Yes, 9:00–16:00 on each day from Saturday 10 to Monday 12 October (public holiday).

Can I drive there?

The garden has a 150-space car park at ¥300 per hour, capped at ¥1,200. It is also right by Exit 3 of Kitayama subway station.

Is it held in the rain?

Yes, it is held rain or shine. However, it will be cancelled if the botanical garden closes due to the weather on the day.
