About 5 min on foot from Amanohashidate Station on the Kyoto Tango Railway; about 10 min by car from the Miyazu-Amanohashidate interchange. The Chionji car park charges until 17:00 and is free after that.

There are 4 car parks within a 12-minute walk of Amanohashidate Park (Monju side), Chionji sanmon gate and the station plaza, and 6 public restrooms within 8 minutes. The map shows each with its walking time.

NOTE

Three programmes overlap

• Beach illumination: nightly 19:00–22:30 from 4 July to 23 September, along about 600 m of beach and the pine grove on the Monju side
• Paper umbrella lights: the four Saturdays (18, 25 July and 1, 8 August), 18:00–21:00, at Chionji's sanmon gate and the station plaza
• Miyazu Bay fireworks: those Saturdays plus Friday 24 July, from 20:30 for about five minutes, 75 shells

Night cruise, paid and booked

• Departs 20:00 each night, about 40 minutes. 1,500 yen adults, 750 yen children (one preschooler free per adult), 90 places
• Bookings close five days before departure

Notes

• A 100 m exclusion zone applies from ten minutes before each firing
• Fireworks may be cancelled for weather, announced on the tourism association site and its official X account

*No wet-weather policy is published for the illumination or the umbrella lights.

Amanohashidate Bay Cruise — fireworks not visible

• 18 and 25 July and 8 August, departing 18:15, about 30 minutes
• 1,000 yen adults, 500 yen children, 90 places on a first-come basis

Monjudo boat festival, 24 July

• 13:00 unveiling of the hidden Monju Bosatsu image
• 17:00 sange petals distributed
• 19:00–19:30 Monju-e service at Chionji
• 20:00 Ryuto cruise departs for the fireworks
• 20:30 Miyazu Bay fireworks, 150 shells over about 10 minutes
• Chionji stays lit until 21:00

• A shuttle boat runs between Miyazu and Monju on both days
