Why You Should Visit

An autumn night event in Yosano, northern Kyoto Prefecture, pairing the Yosano Town Kofun Park, home to the Tsukuriyama burial mounds, with Jitokuin, known as the autumn-leaves temple of Tango. For one night only on 14 November, the park's ancient mounds are lit with countless lanterns for an evening walk, the first time the park has hosted this event. At Jitokuin, the maple garden is illuminated every evening from 14 to 23 November. On the opening night you can visit both, and entry to the park is free during event hours. A good pick if you want to see ancient tombs and autumn colours by night in Tango.
