Why You Should Visit

A citizen-run summer festival that closes out the season at Akashi Park. Around 100 food and game stalls line the West Lawn and central path, recreating the atmosphere of a classic Japanese night market. Over two days the stage hosts kids' dance, local singing and dance acts, and the festival's signature shaved-ice speed-eating contest, with a bon-odori dance circle on the opening night. Yukata dressing and rental are offered near the entrance. Free to enter and easy to drop by, it's a great outing for families or a summer date.

NOTE

[Stage] Kids' dance and local singing/dance acts both days (20-min slots each — see the timetable above); bon-odori from 20:20 on the 29th.

[Shaved-ice speed-eating contest] Annual favorite with age-based divisions and prizes. Advance entry via the official LINE (2026 entries close Aug 17; results Aug 18-23); same-day slots first-come at HQ.

[Handheld fireworks] "Family handheld fireworks" runs on Sat the 29th at the East Lawn (by the rose garden). ¥1,000 per group, 60 groups per slot, sign-up via the form on the official site.

[Yukata] Dressing and rental offered at the entrance booth (reservation recommended).

Note: there are no trash cans in Akashi Park or at Akashi Station — use the on-site trash stations.

Entry to the grounds is free. Food and games at the stalls, the shaved-ice contest, and the handheld fireworks require separate fees or sign-up.

Can I join the handheld fireworks or shaved-ice contest on the day?

The shaved-ice contest is mainly by advance entry via the official LINE, with some same-day spots first-come at HQ. The handheld fireworks are planned as a capped, sign-up event. Check the official site / LINE for the latest.

Is it good for families with kids?

Yes — with kids' dance, junior divisions of the shaved-ice contest, and rows of festival stalls, it's very family-friendly. It gets crowded after dusk, so arriving early is best with small children.
