Why You Should Visit

A meat-dish festival held spring and autumn on the west lawn of Akashi Park; this autumn edition runs Oct 31, Nov 1 and Nov 3. Entry is free and food is bought with ticket books (5 for 3,000 yen). Spread out on the grass and work through the stalls — the organizers expect 18,000 visitors over three days. Nov 1 doubles as 'Reggae Niku Festa' with CHEHON, KENTY GROSS and HISATOMI on stage; Nov 3 is 'Oshikatsu Niku Festa' with idol-group performances. Goes ahead in rain; if cancelled for severe weather there is no makeup date.
