Venue & access: Oct 30: Michi-no-Eki Higashiura Terminal Park / Oct 31–Nov 1: Awaji Island National Akashi Kaikyo Park & Sustainable Park By car: about 5 min south on Route 28 from Awaji IC on the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway (Parking Lot 1: ¥500 per car)
By public transport: highway bus from JR Sannomiya or JR Maiko Station to 'Seirei Awaji Byoin-mae', then a 5-min walk

Why You Should Visit

An annual autumn sports day on Awaji Island where anyone can take part for free. Running since 2016, this is the 11th edition, and the 2025 event drew a total of 40,000 visitors. At the main venue, Awaji Island National Akashi Kaikyo Park, around 20 classic Japanese undokai games such as ball toss, three-legged races and giant ball rolling are held with same-day sign-up, and the winning team takes home a year's supply of Awaji beef. Regional mascots from across Japan gather for the Awadikara Festival, and Awaji Island food stalls line the park, so you can spend the day just watching and eating.

FAQ

Do I need to register in advance to compete?

There is no advance entry; sign-up is on site on the day. The games are free, but a park admission ticket is required on Oct 31 and Nov 1.

Can I go just to watch?

Yes. You can come and go freely during park hours, and same-day re-entry is checked by wristband.

Is it held in the rain?

If the organizer decides the weather makes the games difficult, the event is cancelled, with notice on the official site and social media by 20:00 the day before.

Can I bring my pet?

Pets are allowed in a carrier or on a leash, with waste cleaned up. They cannot enter indoor facilities, rides or most restaurants.
