Why You Should Visit

Osaka's Abeno Ward holds its 53rd ward festival around the Abeno Ward Civic Center, spreading out to Yasuragi Tenkukan, Abeno Sports Center and Kanezuka Fureai Higashi Park. More than 40 booths from neighbourhood groups, the ward office, police, fire brigade and local businesses offer yakisoba and baby castella, ring toss and shooting games, and a police motorcycle and mini fire engine on display. The civic center's Small Hall runs a stage of dance and magic acts, and this year adds a New Sports Challenge Corner where everyone plays boccia or mölkky by the same rules. It is a handy pick for families looking for a local festival close to Tennoji.
