Why You Should Visit
An annual evening market in Akashi's famous Uonotana shopping district, held to mark Hangesho and Tanabata (Star Festival). Streets decorated with Tanabata ornaments fill with food and game stalls—cotton candy, shaved ice, goldfish scooping, raffles and more—alongside special sales by Uonotana's shops. Kids can write Tanabata wish strips, watch dance performances and street acts. Right by JR/Sanyo Akashi Station, it's an easygoing summer outing, lovely in a yukata, and great for families.
