Take-no-Komichi Kaguya no Yube 2026

Why You Should Visit

For two autumn evenings, around 4,000 bamboo lanterns line Take-no-Komichi, a walking path through the bamboo groves of Muko City. Each lantern is a section of bamboo cut from neglected groves, filled with water and topped with a floating candle, so the path glows with flickering light after dark. A food area is set up at Dai-6 Koyo Elementary School. On the same day, the Take-Musubi Festa runs at the neighbouring Rakusai Bamboo Park, so you can go straight from daytime activities to the evening lanterns. A good choice for anyone who wants an autumn dusk walk through the bamboo.

About 15 minutes' walk from Hankyu Rakusaiguchi Station. There is no visitor parking, so come by public transport or the free shuttle bus.

All bamboo lanterns and LEDs go out at once at 20:00. There are no street lights on the path, so bring a torch

③ Otokuni General Government Building ⇔ Dai-6 Koyo Elementary School: 17th & 18th 16:05–20:45 (no parking or bike parking at the government building)
All run about every 30 min. They are minibuses, so you may not get on when full. Timetables and stops are on the Muko Tourism Association website

There is no parking at or near the venue, and the Bamboo Park car park is closed to visitors

Take-Musubi Festa by day

On the same day (Oct 17), 13:00–19:30, Take-Musubi Festa is held at the adjacent Rakusai Bamboo Park

FAQ

Can I drive there?

No. There is no visitor parking and the Bamboo Park car park is closed. Walk from Hankyu Rakusaiguchi Station or take the free shuttle from Rakusaiguchi Station, the Muko City Office Higashi-Muko Annex or the Otokuni General Government Building (which also has no parking).

Is this separate from the Take-Musubi Festa?

Yes. The Take-Musubi Festa runs at the adjacent Rakusai Bamboo Park on October 17 from 13:00 to 19:30, while Kaguya no Yube lights up Take-no-Komichi on October 17 and 18 from 17:30 to 20:00. On the 17th you can visit both in one go.

Is there food?

Yes, a food area at Dai-6 Koyo Elementary School is open from 16:00 to 20:00.

Does it go ahead in the rain?
