Why You Should Visit

The fourth edition of a market of mainly handmade makers, held at Kobe Kitano Nosta, a converted former primary school. This time 35 stalls take part, 18 of them for the first time. Jewellery makers dominate — natural stone, Czech beads, resin, hand-forged pure silver — alongside leather goods, blown glass, candles and pouches of Indian embroidered ribbon, plus a pudding specialist, chocolates and organic coffee. It is small enough to chat with each maker inside the old school building, and a photographer roams the venue on the day. Close to Ijinkan-dori, so it pairs easily with a walk around Kitano.

About an 8-minute walk from Kencho-mae subway station, or about 12 minutes from Sannomiya or Motomachi stations; 2 minutes from the Nakayamate 3-chome stop on city bus route 7. By car, Nosta's own car park (25 spaces, 500 yen per 30 min, discounts with purchases inside).

Admission is free; you buy from each stall.

Does it go ahead in rain?

Yes — it is held indoors in the old school building, so it runs as planned in rain.

Is there parking?

Kobe Kitano Nosta has a 25-space car park (500 yen per 30 minutes; 30 minutes free with a purchase of 500 yen or more inside, 1 hour free with 2,000 yen or more). With so few spaces, public transport is safer — about 8 minutes on foot from Kencho-mae subway station, or 12 from Sannomiya or Motomachi.
