Why You Should Visit

For four nights around the harvest moon, the Japanese garden in Daisen Park, next to the World Heritage Mozu tombs, opens after dark. Lanterns line the paths and the pond, and you can walk the full loop under the moon. Entry is the daytime fee plus ¥100, no booking needed. On the 19th and 20th LED sky lanterns rise from the park's great lawn, and the tethered balloon runs night flights through the 22nd, so the whole park stays lively into the evening.
