About 5 min on foot from the Kiyomizu-michi bus stop (city bus 206 from Kyoto Station, or 207 from Gion-Shijo and Kyoto-Kawaramachi). About 15 min from Keihan Kiyomizu-Gojo Station. It sits right by Gion and Kiyomizudera and gets very crowded, so come by public transport.

How the visit goes

• Buy a koyamaki branch
• Have the deceased's posthumous name written on a water tablet (400 yen per spirit)
• Strike the welcoming bell to call the spirit back
• Make a water offering

• Cast at the behest of the founder Keishun, its sound is said to reach the land of the dead
• The Kojidan records a legend that after three years buried in the ground it began to ring by itself at the sixth hour

2026 offering

• A limited goshuin book illustrated by Daruma Shoten is available during the four days
