A two-day yosakoi dance festival where student teams from across Japan perform at venues around Kyoto, with the main stage at Kyoto Ryozen Gokoku Shrine, the resting place of Sakamoto Ryoma. Built on Kochi's yosakoi naruko dance, it also brings together regional styles such as Kyoto's Kyoen Sodefure! and Okayama's Uraja. The Ryoma Stage at the shrine has seating, so families with small children and older visitors can watch in comfort. There is also a stage at Kyoto Station Building's Muromachi Koji Plaza, easy to catch between sightseeing stops. A good pick if you want to see energetic student dance up close or visit places tied to Ryoma.
