Why You Should Visit

A one-day chance to step inside the stone tower of the Nishinomiya Battery, a National Historic Site on the Omaehama seafront in Nishinomiya. Built about 160 years ago at the end of the Edo period, the battery is normally closed to visitors. Curators from the Nishinomiya City Local History Museum give on-site talks twice, at 14:00 and 15:30. The opening coincides with the "Umibe no Hiroppa Festa 2026" held in the same park, and no reservation is needed. A good outing for anyone curious about Nishinomiya's history or late-Edo coastal defense.
