Why You Should Visit

Try your hand at the same lime plaster (shikkui) used to repair the walls and roofs of Himeji Castle. Held on the north side of Sannomaru Square, the session has craftspeople who work on cultural property restoration guide you as you plaster a temporary wall. Each try takes about 5 to 15 minutes. It is free, no booking is needed, and you can join at any time during the session hours. A good stop for anyone curious about how the castle's famous white walls are finished, or for visitors touring the castle that day.
