Why You Should Visit

An early-evening festival in the grounds of Nishinomiya Shrine, head shrine of Ebisu, built around mixing people of every nationality. From 5 p.m. there are stalls for old-fashioned Japanese games (kendama, spinning tops) plus food booths, and at 7 p.m. a DJ bon-odori — the social-media-famous kind — gets everyone into the circle. Nagashi-somen (flowing noodles) is also on offer. Foreign residents help run the event alongside local members. Admission is free, so it works as a casual stop on a summer evening, yukata welcome.
