Why You Should Visit

The Kakogawa riverbed turns into a giant grill. Kakogawa is one of Japan's meat-industry hubs, and this festival — 95,000 visitors over its first three editions — puts that butchers' craft on display. On Sep 5 from 11:00, 2,000 free servings of Kakogawa Wagyu are handed out. Meat booths and food trucks line the field, admission is free, and a night dog run for small dogs opens in the evening. The Sep 4 (Fri) "NIGHT PART" was cancelled due to forecast severe weather, and there will be no event on the reserve date, Sep 6 (Sun).

Held as scheduled, 11:00–21:00. 2,000 free servings of Kakogawa Wagyu (from 11:00), the SHIKATAGYU AWARD ceremony, and a stage with a livestock auction, music and dance (hosted by Kunika Takeda).

FAQ

Is there an admission fee?

Admission is free. Food and drink are charged separately, but 2,000 servings of Kakogawa Wagyu (Sep 5 from 11:00) are handed out free while supplies last. The free collaboration udon planned for Sep 4 was cancelled.

Can I bring my dog?

A dog space has been added this year. A night dog run for small dogs opens at 17:00 on Sep 5, and pet food and goods are on sale.

Is the Sep 4 session going ahead?

No. The Sep 4 (Fri) "NIGHT PART" was cancelled due to forecast severe weather. Sep 5 (Sat) goes ahead as scheduled, 11:00–21:00, and there is no event on the reserve date, Sep 6 (Sun).

Is there parking?

Free parking is provided. The venue is about a 10-minute walk west of JR Kakogawa Station, so the train is convenient during busy hours.
