50th Nigohachi Matsuri (Higashiomi Autumn Festival) 2026

Venue & access: Higashiomi City Hall (New Building and East Building parking lot) and the road in front About 15 min on foot from Yokaichi Station (Ohmi Railway). The Chokotto Bus costs 100 yen for adults and is free for elementary pupils on the day; from Yokaichi Station, get off at Hattatsu Shien Center, where every bus stops. Drivers can park at the temporary lots (Higashiomi Giant Kite Museum and Yokaichi Culture and Arts Hall) and take the free shuttle, which runs about every 30 min from 9:00 (last departure from the venue 15:30).

Why You Should Visit

Run by the local Junior Chamber since 1977, this festival in Yokaichi reaches its 50th edition this year. The city hall's New Building, the East Building parking lot and the road out front, closed to traffic for the day, fill with a 100-stall flea market and marche, food trucks and a food court, plus a town-wide puzzle trail and a stage of dance, brass band and taiko. The same grounds host a local products fair, an eco fair, fire and Self-Defense Force vehicle displays and Ohmi Railway station-staff experiences at the same time. It suits families who want to graze and try things together.

7:00–16:00, the road in front of city hall (Homukyoku-mae to Higashiomi Police Station-mae intersections) is closed to cars and becomes a pedestrian zone
